Adding “The Creative’s Prayer” will transform your meditation practice

I’ve experimented with a variety of meditation/prayer techniques and tools over the years, and almost by accident discovered the most effective meditation to prepare for writing. It involves a combination of visualization, bodywork and mantras. Although this “prayer” is an extremely effective foundation for my work as an essayist, it could easily work well for any kind of creative — artist, musician, researcher, entrepreneur — who wants to reach the height of their individual potential.

Notice I say individual potential — not Lena Dunham’s or Gary Vaynerchuk’s or whoever is at the top of their field’s potential.

This is self-actualization. To learn more, I highly recommend the book Transcend: The New Science of Self-Actualization by Psychologist Scott Barry Kaufman. It was my favorite book I read in 2020.
